@ The O2 Academy2 Islington

For one night only, Mitch Daniels is taking to the stage of the O2 Academy2 Islington in an attempt to send as many mosquito nets out to Africa as possible.

Mitch Daniels will be performing with his band along with support from Kaitlyn Haggis and Torben Tietz and every penny raised will be going to UK based malaria charity "Malaria No More UK" ( Tickets are a mere £5 and every ticket sold is enough to buy, deliver and hang a mosquito net!

Malaria is a preventable disease that tragically claims the life of a child every minute. Malaria No More UK specialises in Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets which have insecticide impregnated into the fabric of the net so it does not wash out. They work to save lives by investing in prevention, diagnosis and treatment and so far it has distributed over 5 million nets and is part a global effort that has seen a significant drop in deaths from malaria by 26% since 2000.

“Malaria No More UK believes that no parent should lose their child to malaria - a preventable, curable disease. Thanks to supporters like Mitch Daniels, we are able to keep investing in Africa and inspiring public support and political action to save lives. Malaria is one disease we really can beat and since 2001 over one million children’s lives have been saved. We are really excited that Mitch has chosen to support us in his event on 18/10/13, and are looking forward to some great music for a great cause.” - Chris Richardson-Wright, Fundraising officer for Malaria No More UK.

Tickets are £5 and can be purchased here:

Mitch Daniels spent the early years of his childhood and education in Kenya, where his family live. Having all his immediate family dispersed across the globe from Moscow, to Perth and Nairobi, Mitch came to London a few years ago to make a life for himself on the local music scene.

Through gigging extensively and immersing himself in the local circuit he stumbled upon several like-minded musicians and has now started working with a full-band.

First he joined forces with Tom Triggs, percussionist, guitarist, singer and songwriter. Mitch and Tom embarked on a journey as an acoustic duo.

Next came Julio Diaz (bass) also a fine singer, pianist and tunesmith himself. With Tom and Mitch both being "harmony freaks" when Julio also expressed his love of harmonies… two very quickly became three.

As a trio it was decided that some dark and bluesy guitar solos could not be done without. And so in came Jesús Gómez Gutiérrez. Also discovered playing at the local Oxjam in Kentish Town. Jesús' Guitar work is outstanding and his good humour brought the band to life.

And so "THE MITCH DANIELS BAND" was born. Combining, folk/rock with jazzy chord progressions, (and elements of comedy), their light hearted lyrics and three-part harmonies tell a story with every song.

Now together they are bound for the O2 Academy2 Islington on 18th October for a gig known as "Net The Bed" where they will be raising funds for "Malaria No More UK". Next year? Possibly an album… but I think the boys are all keen for a tour!
